Xenith III
The Xenith III offers maximum warmth for minimal weight. Built for ultra-light backpacking and trekking in the high mountains during summer, as well as at lower altitudes in spring and autumn. These bags feature 900 fill-power goose down and our incredible PLASMA 10D fabric, ensuring comfort night after night.
The Extreme Light range are amongst the very best lightweight sleeping bags available today, an unsurpassed combination of exceptional warmth with low weight and pack size. Crucially they achieve this whilst maintaining the fit and features for long term use in the mountains.
The predecessors to the Xenith bags were a consistent favourite with our team of climbers and they’ve been used for some of the hardest and most committing alpine climbing of recent years in the Himalaya, Karakoram and Alaska. At the same time they’ve been everywhere from classic ascents in Patagonia, Yosemite and the European Alps to long distance back packing and ski trips where every gram counts.
Now completely re-designed, the Extreme Light Range, comprising the Xenith I, II and III, has been improved in every way, combining the experience from thousands of nights of use with all our design expertise. Specialist down bags were where we began in 1961 and they remain an obsession amongst our design and development team today.
Our ultralight, compressible and breathable PLASMA 10 Denier fabrics are used throughout in combination with 900 fill power goose down, this ensures extremely low weight and pack size as well as comfort. The best down is no use if it’s not controlled properly and the vertical box wall chest baffles and slant main body baffles keep the fill exactly where it’s needed for greatest efficiency. It’s a level of complexity normally only found on much more substantial expedition bags.
Many lightweight bags on the market achieve their impressively low numbers by being shorter and narrower than is ideal, using short zips and simplifying hoods, foot pieces and other key features. It’s an easy trick to play but one that comes with compromises in comfort and thermal efficiency in the real world. We are committed to making bags that work as well in the mountains as they do on paper. The Extreme Light range features full length, high quality zips as well as sophisticated footpieces and, in the case of the Xenith II and III, hoods and integrated collars. These are bags you can look forward to getting into at night, whether at a perfect camp spot or on a tiny bivi ledge at altitude.
